Unit 26: Sigma
Southwark Construction Apprenticeships is a new project that has been started by SIGMA-QTS Training and the local council (Southwark) to increase the number of Southwark Residences into meaning employment (Longer than six months) or apprenticeships with the construction sites currently on going in the borough.
They source out candidates from local partners and employment charities, such as Southwark works, Job Centre Plus, Women in construction and Wandle homes.
Candidates that already have the required CSCS Card to work will be offered opportunities for interviews and work placements before finally being placed with one of our site partners in an employed role / apprenticeship / Traineeship
However if the candidate doesn’t have the required work card then they need not worry. We run pre-employment boot camps that last for 2 weeks and will leave the candidate upon successful completion with a Level 1 Health and Safety BTEC and a Green CSCS card.
We then continue with the process that people with card would be doing, finding them candidates job opportunities.
As well are working with Southwark council to increase employment, we also have an obligation to help the Southwark sites upskill their workforce by offering their workers Level 2 to 6 NVQ (or equivalent) courses as well as health and safety, short course.
